It’s Officially Fall: What This Season Will Bring

Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed my last couple of posts about adventuring through BC and Alberta. Normally, at this time of year, I would be heading out galavanting across the province and around the country for the fall recruitment season. Given the circumstances, this year looks a little bit different. Long story short – I won’t be going anywhere else anytime soon.

For safety reasons, we will not be doing any of our recruitment in-person. Everything will be done virtually this fall. For me, this means a lot of Zoom meetings and presentations, phone calls and emails, and none of that person-to-person interaction that I love. Though it is definitely the right call, it is still a hard pill to swallow, especially since I will not be on the road at all. I truly love travelling, exploring new places, and connecting with people, so this is going to be a rough season for me. Regardless, it is still one of my favorite times of year, and I am looking forward to what we can do this fall.

Unfortunately, no fall travels means no fall content for you guys. Looks like I will be continuing to write about the impact of the pandemic, working from home, and mental health during this time as well! Stay tuned for more 🙂

With that said, knowing I was going to continue to be working from home for the next few months, and potentially into the new year, I figured it was important to have a living environment that would be conducive to my situation. If you’ve been following along over the past few months, you know that I’ve been going back and forth between the Okanagan and Vancouver for a bit, primarily because I have been struggling with my mental health throughout the pandemic. When it became clear what would be happening for the rest of the fall, I decided I needed to pick one and make a commitment to stay there for the time being. I chose to stay in the Okanagan as I felt it was the best decision for my mental health at the time. Unfortunately, this means I had to give up my place in Vancouver for the next little while. Though it is a bit strange to feel less connected to Vancouver right now, I do feel like it is the best decision moving forward.

For the next few months then, I will be living the work-from-home life while based in the Okanagan. Perhaps sometime in the new year I will consider relocating back to Vancouver, but for now, I’m here – and I’m happy about that, something that has often not been easy to say in the past. We will see what adventures I get into in the Okanagan, and I will be sure to share them with you all!

The fall season will definitely be looking different this year than it has for the past few years – everything is online and I am staying put. I haven’t been in one place for the fall for awhile, and it’s been many years since I’ve been in the Okanagan for the entire fall season. I am interested to see what will happen and how everything goes! Stay tuned to watch me stumble along the way. Sending love and light to you all. <3

  1. […] even though there wasn’t a clear plan of what moving forward would look like at the time. As you may know, I made the call to come back to the Okanagan and eventually decided to leave my place in Vancouver […]
