The season of celebrations

celebrations

Helloooo everyone! June has absolutely flown by and I haven’t had the chance to check in with you all! The last time I wrote, we were talking about self care in hectic times, which has continued to resonate for me throughout the past month. We’ve also had moments of celebration, including finishing my last day of work and landing a new position – more to come on that soon. For now though, I want to take the time to look back on some past celebrations! As we head into summer, it definitely feels like we are in the season of celebrations, and I am SO here for it ♥️

Engagement Party

A few weeks ago, we celebrated my cousin’s engagement with a super fun surprise engagement party. Surrounded by laughs, great food, treats, and celebrating the happy couple was SO much fun. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day and amazing memories. We can’t wait for their wedding which is later this summer – it’s going to be absolutely wonderful to continue celebrating love!

Prom

After the engagement party came a very different celebration for another cousin of mine: her high school prom. She is the last of the cousins to graduate from high school, so it’s a very exciting time for us! I’ve always been a sucker for prom and any type of occasion that calls for getting done up and putting on a gorgeous dress, so I was very excited to help my cousin get ready for her big day. Hair, makeup, the dress, shoes, and more – getting all dolled up is SO fun. Of course, taking photos all together after is the best part. It’s really nice to be able to take part in these traditions and I’m so glad I was there!

Summer

Since then, we’ve been heading even more full speed towards full-on summer. I had the chance to take part in a community event recently, which was the perfect way to kick-off summer with delicious food, drinks, flowers, and of course, incredible company. I also recently got my nails done to fully embrace that summer spirit! Though it might seem superficial, for me, it makes a big difference in terms of my confidence and general life enjoyment! You’ve got to enjoy those guilty pleasures when you can, and getting your nails done is definitely one of mine 😀

Graduation

Recently, we also celebrated my cousin’s graduation from high school, with the official ceremony taking place later this week. It’s a big accomplishment and I am very grateful to be a part of the celebrations! We hosted a grad party filled with delicious food, drinks, treats, and more. It was a very hot, sunny day and it was so special to celebrate with family. The ceremony itself is sure to be a spectacular event. Again, I’m so grateful to be a part of these family traditions and get to celebrate the last cousin’s graduation!

Career changes

As I mentioned, I also recently finished my last day of work. After a couple stressful months deliberating, applying, interviewing, and negotiating, I have landed a new position in my field. Though I’m not ready to disclose it just yet, I am very excited about the new opportunity! However, it was bittersweet to be leaving UBC, a place I’ve been connected to via work for five years, and via school for seven years! UBC has definitely had a big impact on my life and I’ll always be grateful for that. I had the sweetest colleagues say goodbye to me with ice cream cake, the biggest bouquet of flowers I’ve ever seen, and sentimental gifts as well. The people I’ve met and the growth I’ve had has been incredible, and though I will miss it very much, I’m looking forward to the next step in my journey. ♥️

Since all of these celebrations have happened, we’re now officially in the full swing of summer here in the Okanagan and the weather is FINALLY getting hot. More summer fun will definitely be coming our way soon, and I can’t wait to enjoy all that it will bring!! Stay tuned and make sure to check out our Instagram for more 🙂
