Adjusting to Vancity Life (Again)

Hello everyone! As you may know from my latest posts, I’ve recently wrapped up my travel season on the road and I am now settled back in Vancouver. Transitioning back to being in Van after being on the road for so long has definitely been a bit of an adjustment. It is always an adjustment when you return from a trip, but it’s even more so when it’s been for an extended period of time.

Living on the road is very different from living at home. I suddenly feel like I’ve forgotten how to cook for myself, and clean properly, and ride the bus – and I have to re-learn everything. I have to re-acquaint myself with this city and all the things I enjoy about it, and remind myself to enjoy where I’m at, rather than yearning for somewhere in the future.

At the same time, it is nice to be back in one place for awhile. And since I’ve been back, I’ve been settling in to a different side of my new role, which has been really exciting. I’ve been adjusting to working in my office rather than working on the road, which will take some time as well. But all in all, I am glad to be back and settled for a bit and take some time to feel stable and solid for awhile.

Apart from working, I’ve been adventuring around Van and the Lower Mainland, spending time catching up with friends, and enjoying some pre-Christmas festivities – including Secret Santa with my roommates and attending my first Canucks game with colleagues! Vancouver definitely has a lot to offer and I’m learning to love everything this city has again. I am looking forward to spending a lot more time in this city in the new year.

Even though I’ve only been back in Van for about a month, I’ve recently jetted off again for the holidays back to the Okanagan. It will be nice to spend some time here before heading to Vancouver to ring in 2020! Stay tuned for more updates and reflections on everything the past year has brought, and everything I am hopeful 2020 will bring. Happy Holidays everyone! <3
