January #UBCBucketList Moments

Happy beginning of the rain season, Vancouverites! Just kidding, it never really leaves, does it? But really though, it has been sunny on and off lately which has been so nice, but today the rain set in and I definitely felt it. The combination of the change in weather and the growing responsibilities of school are just on the cusp of taking over my life, and I can feel that things are going to get busy with school very quickly.

I always find it a bit difficult to jump back in after the holidays and ringing in the new year with friends. A part of me still isn’t quite ready to jump in yet, but it’s coming whether I’m ready or not, so I guess now is the time to jump in with both feet! Before doing so and having my balance thrown out of whack, I thought now would be a great time to update you all on my #ubcbucketlist 🙂

The start of a new semester (and also the last one of my undergrad!) not only brought new classes, but also plenty of new events on campus. Recently, I had the chance to attend the 2019 Student Leadership Conference. I have been trying to go the past couple of years but it had never worked out, so this year I made sure to attend. It was a great conference filled with inspiring workshops, presenters, and getting the chance to network with student leaders. I’m really glad I had the opportunity to be a part of it before I graduate, and if you’re attending UBC or another post-secondary institution in the Lower Mainland, I encourage you to check it out!

I also recently attended the Winter Classic, kicking off the new semester and sports season with a hockey game at UBC! This was another event I wanted to attend last year but was unable to, so I’m glad I got the chance to go this year. It was a great experience to be in a packed hockey arena with fellow students decked out in blue and gold, cheering on our team, and celebrating the start of a new semester. It has started the semester off on a good foot for me, which I’m quite happy about.

These are just a few highlights of the start of my semester. There’s definitely going to be more sports games, creative events, and other fun experiences that I’ll be soaking up as much as I can over the next few months. And I’m also enjoying those little moments too, including applying for graduation, planning for graduation and what happens after, prepping for assignments, and more. There’s a lot to come over the next few months, and I’m excited to share it with all of you.
