Summer is one of the BEST times to explore the Okanagan and enjoy all that it has to offer. I’m doing my best to soak up every moment of it! Today, I’m going to share some of the best summer activities to enjoy in the Okanagan.
Moving your body
There are so many different ways to move your body while enjoying the gorgeous sunny weather. Going for a hike is a great option, as long as you’re prepared for the heat with water, sunscreen and a hat! A couple recent hikes I’ve checked out include Knox Mountain and exploring Crawford Falls. I’m also a big fan of spin, and biking outdoors is another option too – you can explore Myra Canyon by bike, and also rent e-bikes at various places in the Okanagan, which is super cool! Of course, water sports are where it’s at when the heat really hits. Paddle boarding is one of my personal favs. Even a more casual beach day spent swimming and sun tanning is a great choice for the sunny Okanagan!

Family fun
Apart from general activities, there’s a few really unique spots to check out that are fun for the whole fam. The Kangaroo Creek Farm is one of them that I’ve heard rave reviews about for years, and have only recently had the chance to visit! It was super cool, and I didn’t realize they had more than kangaroos there! Such a fun way to spend the afternoon connecting with animals. The Kelowna Farmer’s Market is another great way to spend your weekend, exploring local vendors and purchasing fresh produce. I love getting the chance to connect with the community in this setting! Another great option is visiting the Starlight Drive-in located in Enderby, in the North Okanagan. It’s SO fun and I had a great time watching Top Gun: Maverick. These are a few options I highly recommend you check out with the entire family or a group of friends!

Wine Country
Of course, my list wouldn’t be complete without my personal fav: wine tasting and enjoying all that wine country has to offer. There are so many great options for wineries throughout the Okanagan, that you’ll never go wrong with where you choose to visit! My personal fav regions are Oliver/Osoyoos, Naramata, and Lake Country – check out one of my previous posts for more wine recommendations. I recently visited the Kelowna region again in more detail, and my personal fav winery in that area was Meadow Vista Honey Wines. Their wines are all infused with honey, so it’s a very unique place to visit! While the wine itself is delicious, you can’t forget amazing food to pair with it! Meadow Vista had a cute bistro on site, and many other wineries also feature incredible restaurants with top-quality offerings. If you’re looking for something more low key, some wineries also offer the option to bring your own picnic while enjoying their grounds. You definitely can’t go wrong with this kind of summer picnic!

We have only just started to dive in to summer here with some hot weather, and I’m looking forward to enjoying as much of it as I can! As you may have seen in one of my recent Instagram posts, I am going to be making a move out to Toronto in a few weeks time!! It is a big move, bittersweet for sure, but I am looking forward to it. At the same time, I am really hoping to soak up this summer before I leave! I’m looking forward to another couple of weeks enjoying some of the best summer activities that the Okanagan has to offer. Happy Summer!
