Toronto Summer Update!

Hello friends, Happy June! It’s been a minute since I’ve really shared some updates from Toronto life, and I figured now was the perfect time to do so. Let’s take a look at some of my favourite things I’ve done in Toronto lately, some fun updates, and what I’m looking forward to this summer. Read the blog for the full run-down on my Toronto updates!

Before we dive in to the summer season ahead, let’s take a look back at the spring! We had an interesting season of spring weather here in Toronto. Unfortunately it felt quite cold and winter-y for muchhhh longer than usual. However, we still enjoyed the spring moments when we could! I had lots of dinner and brunch with friends, birthday celebrations, and yoga + pilates classes throughout the city. I had a few work trips in March and April – you can read about my Midwest adventures here and my NYC journey here. Once back in Toronto, I went to my first Jays game of the season with a few colleagues, which was so much fun! The dome wasn’t open quite yet, but it was still a blast. ⚾

Once we finally had some warmer weather, iced matcha lattes are where it’s at. The cherry blossoms popped up for their yearly moment in early May. I had the chance to visit some at University of Toronto and at Trinity Bellwoods. It’s always a magical experience, but beware the crowds! 🌸 I also recently went to my first concert in AGES at the RBC Amphitheatre to see Lauv and Khalid. It was incredible!! Unfortunately it was pretty cold out, but I imagine in the summer the venue is really fun. The concert itself was amazing and I am so glad I went! 🎵

The Toronto Flower Market also had their first market of the season in May. I love visiting when I can throughout the summer – they always have an amazing selection from flower farms around the GTA! Their flowers typically last longer than usual and they have great prices too. For the May market, they had lots of tulips – and the June market is going to feature peonies! Highly recommend visiting if you’re a flower girlie like me – check out their schedule here 🙂 Kensington Market has their outdoor flea markets open for the season now as well, until October! It’s another really fun market to visit, they always have great vendors in attendance. Get the details here! 💐

In the past few months, I’ve attended book events about complex stories, women writing, poetry launches, and critical discussions about the role of education. The spring season also brought more book signings. I’ve had signings across Toronto at locations such as Eaton Centre, Bay & Bloor, Eglinton Square, and Sherway Gardens. There are MANY book signings to come over the summer months too! I’m really looking forward to expanding locations throughout the GTA. I’ll be having signings in Woodbridge, Mississauga, Markham, and even a quick visit back to BC! See the full list of summer signings here. 📚

Summer is officially upon us now in June, and I’m looking forward to a busy summer ahead. Book signings will be a big feature of the summer for me. I have some fun plans squeezed in there too with a couple fun road trips and happy hours aplenty. This time of year also means I’m celebrating a year and a half of being back in Toronto, since my return in 2025! It’s a really exciting milestone for me, and I’m looking forward to settling in to Toronto life even more. 🥰

With that being said, I’m also moving into my own place!! I am really excited for the move this summer and having time to really settle in to the new space. I’m looking forward to making it my own. I’m not going to share all of the details right now, but the next couple of months are going to be VERY busy! Despite the busyness, I’m hoping for some moments of quiet too. 💖 Thanks for being along for the ride. Wishing you a wonderful start to the summer season! 🌞
