10 YEARS of chiaragoesglobal!!!

This month, we are officially celebrating TEN YEARS of this site! Can you believe it’s been an entire DECADE of writing at chiaragoesglobal?! I sure can’t. Today, we are taking a look back at some major highlights throughout these past ten years. I’ll also look towards the future, and what the next decade will bring. Thank you as always for your support of chiaragoesglobal! ❤

The beginning – 2016

If you don’t know the lore by now, chiaragoesglobal was started while I was on an academic exchange during my undergraduate degree. I was studying in Manchester, England and had embarked on many solo travel adventures throughout England and Europe. Given the many writings I had about my travels, I decided to start chiaragoesglobal. It was a great way to share my stories with folks back home in Canada, and was a really fun creative outlet for me. And so, chiaragoesglobal began – and only grew from there!

Re-launch & moving! – 2017-2018

After a brief pause writing at chiaragoesglobal when I returned from my exchange, the blog started back up again in 2017. I had recently gone abroad again and re-found the fire to write! I wrote a lot about travelling again, and started writing some more personal posts too. In the fall of 2017, I moved to Toronto (for the first time), followed by a move to Vancouver in 2018. These rapid changes meant I had a ton to write about, and chiaragoesglobal was the perfect place to share it all.

The end of academia & the start of something new – 2019

For much of the following years, I wrote a lot about life in Vancouver and adjusting to a new place. At this time, I was also in the middle of finishing my undergraduate degree. In 2019, I graduated from university, which brought a major shift to the blog. What started as a travel-inspired blog during my undergrad quickly had to morph into something new. This transition was marked by none other than a major grad trip, where I travelled to Australia and Indonesia. Following this, we turned to the real hurdle: adulthood.

Navigating adulthood in a global pandemic – 2020-2021

I was very excited to be starting my career in the fall of 2019. However, in March 2020, the world changed completely with the COVID-19 pandemic. I know I’m not alone in having the pandemic completely change the course of my life. It had a major impact on the following few years, both in my personal life and in what I wrote about here at chiaragoesglobal. Obviously, travel was extremely limited at this time, and that had been a key feature of much of what I had written up until this point. During this time, my writing shifted to focus more on exploring mental health and wellbeing.

I explored topics such as working remotely, social justice concerns, toxic positivity, creating connections during the pandemic, and a lot about my own mental health journey. The pandemic marked a big shift in my own mental health, and writing about it became a big aspect of chiaragoesglobal. Later in 2021, I started a new project: The chiaragoesglobal Podcast! It was so much fun to launch this podcast and look back at many of my past adventures. You can listen to the three seasons of the podcast here.

The devastating impacts of grief – 2021-2022

Things had been going pretty well for me, until the fall of 2021. I experienced the loss of a loved one and it utterly changed my life. The experience of grief was unlike anything I had ever felt before. Having already begun writing a lot about my mental health at chiaragoesglobal, it was only natural to share parts of my grief journey as well. Writing is a process that helps me release a lot of emotions, and with grief, it became more important than ever. As I processed this grief, lots of blogs about mental health were written. Though grief never leaves us, that first year of grieving was definitely the most challenging.

Back to Toronto – 2022-2023

After some time processing this grief – though maybe not enough – I decided a big change was needed. I wound up accepting a job in Toronto and moved there for the second time in summer 2022. It was a big decision to move cross-country for a career change, but it felt right. The world began to open up a bit more, and I started travelling more frequently. At this point, chiaragoesglobal was a mixture of mental health & wellbeing blogs, travel content, and general lifestyle content. The podcast was still going strong, too!

Author life incoming!! – 2023-2024

Somehow, amidst ALL of these changes, I also decided now was the time to write and share my book with the world. I began working on it quite seriously in 2022 and signed with The Self Publishing Agency to bring it to life. Less than a year later, in May 2023, my first book was launched! It has been one of the greatest honours of my life to share Blooming with the world. Choosing to do so officially kicked off my author career. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Later in the year, I decided to take some time off from my job and return to BC to focus on being an author even more. Throughout 2024, I spent a lot of time connecting with family, writing, and attending creative events. All of these lifestyle changes were captured on chiaragoesglobal, with my author life being a big focus. 2024 had a lot of transitions with a focus on writing and creativity, living in BC, and still managing my own mental health and processing grief. It was a long year, but by the end of it, I made the decision to move back to Toronto.

Toronto round 3 and 2x author era! – 2025-2026

At the beginning of 2025, I moved back to Toronto – yes, for the third time now. Third time is the charm, right?! 🤪 A month later, I launched my SECOND book, No More Second Chances. Talk about crazy!! 🤪 All of these transitions – moving, travelling, book launches, being an author – were captured here on chiaragoesglobal. 2025 remained a mixture of author life, travel/exploring, and wellbeing throughout it all.

We welcomed 2026 very warmly on the blog, and so far have written lots about being an author, wellbeing, and travel. I’ve also recently started a new blog series, The Turbulent Twenties, which will be wrapped up by the end of this year when I turn 30. I have a feeling the rest of this year is going to be a great one! Thank you for joining me for this ride!! 🥰

A decade of chiaragoesglobal – and the next decade…
